Goodbye, April 2011... Hello, May!!
April was a good month and I hope that May proves to be a good month too, if not better!! :) I love May because it starts with a holiday and it's also my birthday month!! May 19th, people! Remember that!!
The day awesome came into the world! HAHAHA!
1st Week of April. April started off kinda rocky -- the first Sunday of the month saw us spending it at the SDMC (formerly known as SJMC) Emergency room.. because
Allie fell. Bye-bye $$$$. What money I had to make it up for
my husband's forgotten birthday went to the emergency fund.

| This is what her gash looks like now! |
I also didn't get my mom a birthday present. Her birthday was on the 7th. She turned 55!! :)

| Happy Birthday, Mom! |
2nd Week of April. As luck would've had it, my best guy friend, who's an engineer with a local oil and gas company gave me amazing F1 tickets! It was a 3-day pass for 2 people and I immediately jumped for joy!! I passed them on to the husband as a "
I'm sorry I forgot your birthday!" gift. Besides, he's a huge F1 fan! :) So to you, "Anonymoose", if you're reading this, thank you AGAIN! :)
The following Friday, a friend of mine invited me to the
ING Funds 2011 Awards Nite Gala at Mandarin Oriental! It was a formal black tie event and I was stressing out to my blogging buddies
Mariuca and
Monica, because I didn't have anything to wear. Luckily, I remembered that I had an LBD (little black dress -- I need to translate that for the guys) that I haven't worn before. Thank God for impulsive buys! Hahaha!
Anyways, I had a blast. As you can see, it was not a round table sit down dinner. Instead it was a more western banquet style dinner. Guest performer for the night was Syafinaz Selamat and this amazing electric violinist. The guest chef for that night, "he-whose-name-I-forgot", did a great job with the menu. I thoroughly enjoyed it! :)
 |
| Very poor shot of the menu |
 |
| (R-L) Smoked duck with tabouleh, Crispy scallop roll, Deep fried seafood parcel dumpling, Chilled chicken roll with kimchee |
 |
| Slow cooked soy marinated chicken with fruit salsa and Homemade pee pa beancurd with crab meat sauce |
My only comment is that the menu comprised of mainly chicken dishes for every course. Except the last one. The tiger prawn was so scrawny, it was laughable. I didn't bother taking a picture.Coming from Sabah and our penchant for seafood, it was unimpressive. Size DOES matter. :p
The dessert bar was amazing! They had both chocolate and white chocolate fondue fountains and a macaroon tower and cute little desserts. For someone who doesn't have a sweet tooth, I went to have seconds and thirds on the mini tiramisu. So cute!
 |
| Clockwise: Macaron, Papaya cream tart, tiramisu and chocolate cream puff |
Forgive the pic quality. I took all pictures via my very "lauyah" phone. :)
3rd Week of April. My mom and my younger sister arrived from KK on the 16th of April to spend time with my son before his birthday on the 23rd. Since they arrived, it was food, food, food and food. Surprisingly, there weren't many shopping trips. It was all about the OM NOM NOM!
 |
| Crispy duck salad @ Canoodling, Bangsar Village |
 |
| Beef noodle soup @ Canoodling |
 |
| Cooked roast chicken at home with my mom |
 |
| Cooked roast leg of lamb, mashed potatoes and steamed french beans and carrots |
 |
| Avocado salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing |
 |
| Nasi Kerabu @ Serai |
 |
| Middle Eastern Medley - Slow cooked lamb shank with flavoured rice |
 |
| Eton Mess @ Serai |
 |
| Pavlova @ Serai |
 |
| Macaron display @ Serai |
I so need to lose all the weight that I put on in April. So desperate to lose this weight but unlike some of my friends who take diet pills like lipozene, but I'd rather be chubby than bear the
lipozene side effects, if any.
On my son's birthday, we spent the whole day at Sunway lagoon and after that, had dinner yet again at Canoodling! My son loves it there.. he sure does love his noodles! :) No cake blowing this year, because he said he's 7 years old already.. He's a big boy now! With the time we spent together at Sunway Lagoon and topping it off with the present my mom gave to him, he called it his
best birthday ever!

| Buddy got a 16GB PSP already filled with his favorite games. |
4th Week of April. Before my mom left, my mom wanted to go eat some durian, so we had some pretty awesome durians just nearby our place. Located near the Petronas station beside Sekolah Wawasan at USJ19. Just in case you guys were wondering.
 |
| Durians @ USJ 19 |
 |
| LOVELY! Sweet and "lemak" |
 |
| Me devouring my durian. :) |
The month ended with a high note full of love! :) We got to witness history --
The royal wedding of the future King and Queen of England. :)
 |
| HRH Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and HRH Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge |
 |
| Welcome to the royal family, Kate Middleton. |
 |
| Picture perfect! |
Definitely a great way to end the month!! Will May live up to April?? I sure do hope so!

My sentiments exactly! :)
Hahahahaha! MAcam lah my blog ni newspaper kan.. best to read while minum2 kopi! LOL!
Actually I only go to Empire when my mom is here lah.. biasanya kalau it's just me and the hubs, di rumah saja on the weekens. :) I'm sure you'd be able to recognize me! :) Muka sudah sana sini berampai di FB, Twitter and blog. hahahaha
Macarons tu, kalau give it a miss pun okay jugak lah. Esp untuk kita2 yang mau jaga weight ni kan.. LOL! A lot of people say the pavlova at delicious is the best, and if compared, jauh ketinggalan with the one at Empire. But I haven't tried the one at alexis bistro. they said that one is super yummy. I like pavlovas. Cheesecakes too.. but kerana jaga badan punya pasal .. have to skip on both. :(
